Apple has released iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1 to address a security vulnerability that may have been exploited in targeted attacks against specific individuals.
The update fixes CVE-2026-86950, a flaw in the CoreGraphics framework responsible for image rendering and drawing operations. Processing a maliciously crafted file can trigger an out-of-bounds write, potentially allowing an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected device.
According to Apple, the vulnerability was reported as having been used in highly targeted attacks against specific persons on devices running versions of iOS prior to iOS 27. The company did not disclose further details about the victims or the threat actors involved.
The US Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) rated the issue with a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8, placing it in the second-highest severity tier of High.
On the same day, Apple also published iOS 27.0.1 and iPadOS 27.0.1 as security updates; however, these releases did not reference CVE-2026-86950 or any other CVEs.
