Free Ad Blocker for iPhone, Android, and Desktop Uses DNS Parsing Without Libraries and Skips YouTube Influencer Ads From the First Second

A new free ad-blocking solution has been released for iPhone, Android, and desktop platforms. The tool relies on a lightweight DNS parser that operates without external libraries. It includes a dedicated mode for users who already run VPN connections. An accompanying browser extension automatically skips sponsored segments in YouTube videos, even when the advertisement begins at the zero-second mark. The developer describes the technical challenges encountered after launch and the fixes applied to maintain compatibility across operating systems. The project emphasizes user privacy by avoiding unnecessary data collection and third-party dependencies.

Apple iOS Security Architecture: From Power Button to App Launch in Modern Devices

The article examines the complete boot and trust chain in modern iPhones, starting from the immutable BootROM and progressing through iBoot, the XNU kernel, and the Secure Enclave. It explains how Secure Boot verifies signatures but does not guarantee absence of vulnerabilities, allowing exploits like checkm8 to persist across devices. The piece details data protection classes, BFU versus AFU states, and how passcodes interact with hardware-bound keys to limit brute-force attempts. It further describes application sandboxing, entitlements, code signing, and Pointer Authentication (PAC) as layered defenses that raise the cost of exploitation. The analysis shows why modern jailbreaks require multi-stage chains involving kernel read/write, sandbox escapes, and PAC bypasses rather than single vulnerabilities. Overall, the architecture transforms privilege from a simple scalar into a graph of capabilities across isolated components.

Microsoft Expands Android Integration in Windows 11 with Start Menu Notifications and File Explorer Access

Microsoft has outlined plans to integrate Android smartphones more deeply into Windows 11, reducing the need to reach for a physical phone. Messages and notifications from linked Android or iPhone devices will appear directly in the Start menu, while conversations can be opened in resizable separate windows. Quick Settings will include controls to mute the phone or trigger its ringer for locating a lost device. For compatible Android phones, users will be able to run mobile apps in independent windows and browse phone files through File Explorer. A notification will appear on the desktop after taking a photo on the phone, allowing one-click access to the image. The Resume feature will also enable seamless continuation of supported tasks when switching between devices. These enhancements build on the existing Phone Link app but embed the functionality more natively into the Windows interface.

Russians Offered Unofficial 5G Activation on iPhone for 399 Rubles with No Guarantees

A Russian service called 5G First is selling a tool that removes Apple's 5G restrictions on iPhones for 399 rubles without requiring a jailbreak. The method works by modifying carrier profile settings that control which network features are permitted for a given SIM card. A free alternative named CarrierSIM achieves the same result by forcing the device to adopt the Vodafone Hungary carrier profile where 5G is already enabled. Both solutions are described as experimental, depend on specific iOS versions, operators and SIM cards, and offer no assurance they will survive future system updates. The Ministry of Digital Development is already in discussions with Apple about enabling 5G officially on Russian iPhones. Successful activation of the 5G menu option does not create network coverage where Russian operators have not yet deployed it.

Bypassing VPN Detection on iPhone: Detailed Methods to Avoid App Blocks

Many iPhone users encounter apps that detect and block active VPN connections even after switching servers or protocols. The detection often occurs locally on the device by inspecting network interfaces rather than relying solely on external IP addresses. This guide explains how apps identify VPN tunnels through iOS network data and provides practical workarounds including moving the VPN to a router, configuring per-app exclusions, and using web versions of services. It also covers why protocol obfuscation and port changes fail to hide local VPN activity from applications. Additional troubleshooting addresses automatic VPN profiles, ad blockers, and iCloud Private Relay interference. The article emphasizes that no universal toggle exists in iOS to hide an active VPN from all apps.

5G Icon Appears on Select iPhones for Russian Users as Operators Expand Coverage

Some iPhone owners in Russia have observed the 5G indicator replacing LTE in the status bar, marking the first signs of fifth-generation network access on Apple devices. The change has been confirmed by a RIA Novosti correspondent but remains limited to a portion of users, with no official details released on supported models, carriers, or regions. Russian operators from the Big Four launched 5G services in 16 cities one week earlier, granting potential access to roughly 10 million subscribers. The initial rollout operates primarily on previously allocated LTE spectrum bands, delivering an estimated 20-25% increase in network throughput. Unlike Android devices, where the Ministry of Digital Development planned to enable compatible hardware directly, iPhone activation requires Apple to authorize specific operator frequencies and network configurations. Observers note that the presence of the 5G icon does not yet guarantee widespread deployment or significant speed gains, as performance depends on coverage, spectrum, device model, and network load.

Scammers Pose as Employers to Remotely Lock iPhones and Demand Ransom

Russian police have warned of a new social engineering scheme in which fraudsters impersonate potential employers to gain control of victims' Apple devices. The attackers instruct targets to sign out of their personal Apple accounts and authenticate using credentials supplied by the supposed employer. Once the device links to the fraudster's account, the scammers can remotely lock the iPhone or iPad and demand payment for unlocking it. Authorities emphasize that paying the ransom does not guarantee recovery of the device and may lead to further extortion demands. Victims are advised never to enter third-party Apple credentials on personal hardware and to contact Apple Support with proof of purchase if a device is already locked. The scheme exploits the Find My and Activation Lock features built into iOS devices.

FAS Case Against Apple Will Not Brick iPhones for Russian Users

The Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has opened a case against Apple for failing to pre-install a national messenger and a Russian app store on iOS devices, yet officials have confirmed that no technical measures will disable or restrict existing iPhones. Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy Andrey Svintsov stated that the actions of FAS, Roskomnadzor and other agencies are limited to recording violations and collecting fines. Apple had already implemented the option to select a domestic search engine but did not meet the remaining pre-installation requirements. Svintsov emphasized that any court decisions will remain in force until Apple decides to return to the Russian market and settles accumulated penalties. The approach is designed to replenish the state budget through fines once the company resumes legal operations. Russian iPhone owners can continue using their devices without any risk of remote blocking or forced conversion into expensive paperweights.

Russian Ministry Clarifies No Plans to Disable Apple iPhones Despite New Device Registry

The Russian Ministry of Digital Development has officially stated that no government body or telecom operator has the authority to remotely disable iPhones or other devices from specific manufacturers. The clarification was issued in response to an inquiry from deputy Vladimir Plyakin regarding rumors of potential restrictions if Apple fails to comply with Russian legislation. Current laws do not permit turning user devices into non-functional bricks through any centralized mechanism. However, amendments to the law On Communications will introduce a national registry of user equipment identifiers starting March 1, 2027. The ministry is still developing the regulatory framework for this database, including what data will be collected and which agencies will have access. Officials emphasized that the existence of the registry does not imply any capability for mass device deactivation at this stage.
