Yandex Restores Access to 96% of Yandex Disk Data After Data Center Attacks

Yandex has recovered access to 96 percent of user data stored on Yandex Disk following attacks that damaged its data centers. Files including documents, photographs, and videos are once again available for opening, downloading, and sharing for the majority of users. The company continues to redistribute Disk capacity across independent external sites to improve overall resilience. Basic operations such as uploading, downloading, and synchronization are now functional, yet the web version still imposes restrictions on bulk actions like downloading entire folders or multiple files at once. Users are advised to rely on the desktop client or API for these tasks during the remaining recovery phase. Yandex publishes ongoing updates on the official Yandex 360 service status page and has not provided an exact date for full restoration.

Yandex Disk Data Center Incidents Leave Photos and Videos Inaccessible, Custom Recovery Tool Emerges

Following incidents at Yandex data centers in Sasovo and Vladimir, large numbers of photos and videos stored on Yandex Disk became unavailable for normal download. The company attributed the restrictions to load reduction, yet analysis indicates permanent loss of certain data clusters with no confirmed backups. Photos remain partially recoverable through lower-resolution S3 copies such as XXXL and XXL, while videos suffer from missing byte ranges that produce truncated or corrupted files. A researcher developed a specialized tool using mitmproxy to intercept browser requests and download available file variants in parallel streams. The utility also attempts block-by-block video retrieval to salvage whatever segments remain accessible. Users are warned that continued use of the tool may violate service terms and risk account suspension. The developer advises downloading data immediately rather than waiting for potential further degradation.

Yandex Disk Files Become Partially Inaccessible After Sasovo Data Center Incident

A detailed user report reveals that approximately one percent of files stored on Yandex Disk are currently unavailable for download following reported incidents at the Sasovo data center. The problems manifest in three distinct states: missing thumbnails with downloadable originals, visible thumbnails with inaccessible originals returning 504 Gateway Time-out errors, and cases where both thumbnails and originals fail to load. Technical analysis using curl requests traced the failures to specific storage nodes such as s418klg.storage.yandex.net, indicating that some data shards may reside in affected infrastructure while others remain operational. Yandex support requested original files for diagnosis but closed the ticket without providing an official explanation or confirming data integrity. The author emphasizes that the issue affects files across both the Photos and Files sections and recommends maintaining offline backups due to the lack of guaranteed availability during data center failures.
