Polish Police Report 20-Year-Old Scammed into Taking 563,000 PLN in Loans and Transferring Funds to Criminals via Bitomats
A 20-year-old resident of Trzcianka became the victim of a phone-based social engineering scam in which fraudsters posed as bank employees and police officers. The attackers used a fabricated alert claiming that someone had taken out a loan in the victim's name, then pressured him into obtaining multiple real loans from banks. The total borrowed reached 563,000 PLN, with repayment obligations now exceeding 830,000 PLN including interest. The victim withdrew the funds in cash and deposited them into cryptocurrency ATMs located in Piła and Bydgoszcz, while also handing over 205,000 PLN in person to a courier in Piła. Bydgoszcz Police are handling the investigation and have warned the public about similar vishing tactics that combine fake financial alerts with impersonation of law enforcement.
